Shelburne Museum and Button Bay State Park

It took us two days to visit the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont. What a complex with everything collected by one woman who donated everything to the public. Collections ranged from equipment, pictures, circus stuff, stuffed animals, dishes, clothing etc. This museum is laid out over many acres in a number of small and large buildings. The spot overlooks Lake Champlain and the mountains to the west. Beautiful location!
We then drove down route 7 to Button Bay State Park and this was quite a drive. Going to the park in the country to the coast of Lake Champlain the road was the only thing above water from the floods two weeks ago. The campground is right on the lake and we really enjoyed it even through some sites still were flooded out. Leaving the next day we had a hard time getting out of the park since there was a 100 mile bike race going on and the entrance was a watering hole for the bikers and they just plopped their bikes all over the road so it was slow and tough to get through. Also, driving the back roads back to 7 to head north some of the race was on the main roads and the police held up the traffic until everyone went through. The bikers biked sometimes 4 across and took up the whole road like they owned it.
